New method improves water management for Colombian sugarcane sector.
The researchers compared different methods for estimating reference evapotranspiration in a sugarcane research center in Colombia. They looked at data from 1994 to 2014 and evaluated the accuracy of the methods using various climatic variables. The traditional method used in the center was compared with the Penman-Monteith FAO 56 method. The results showed that only the Penman-Monteith FAO 56 method performed well, while the other methods fell short. This suggests that using the Penman-Monteith FAO 56 method could provide more accurate estimates for managing water resources in the region.
