Drought-resistant rice varieties identified, paving the way for food security.
Six different rice varieties were studied in Turkey to see how they respond to drought. Osmancık-97 and Beşer were found to be tolerant, while Gönen and Karacadağ were more sensitive. Karacadağ had the lowest water potential and the highest proline increase under drought stress. This study shows that different rice varieties have varying responses to drought, with some being more tolerant than others.
