Food Waste Dominates Solid Waste Production in Public Health School
The study aimed to assess the amount and types of solid waste produced at Kermanshah School of Public Health. Researchers collected and weighed waste from different areas like self-service, laboratories, and offices over a week. Results showed that food waste made up 48% of the total waste, with plastic at 32%, paper/cardboard at 14%, and garden waste at 6%. Glass and metal waste were minimal. On average, each person generated 104.29 grams of waste per day, with food waste being the highest contributor. The study suggests using composting for organic waste and implementing recycling programs for paper, cardboard, and plastic to improve waste management at the school.
