Bridging economic approaches could transform environmental policymaking
The article discusses the challenges of connecting different types of economics (like ecological economics and political economy). It explores three main approaches: "new resource economics," "new environmental pragmatism," and "social ecological economics." These approaches have either cooperative or different views from standard economics. The researchers aim to better understand the connections between social ecological economics and various types of economics. They want to find ways to strengthen these connections. The article suggests combining ideas from institutional economics, Marxian approaches, and post-Keynesian analysis with social ecological economics. It also explores overlaps between social ecological economics and other fields like social-ecological systems and political ecology.
