New acid treatment boosts coconut coir sugar yield by over 55%!
The goal of the study was to see how different mineral acids affect the amount of sugar that can be extracted from coconut coir. The researchers tested sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and nitric acid to find the best results. By adjusting the reaction time and acid concentration, they were able to optimize the process for maximum sugar yield. They found that pretreating coconut coir with acid at a specific temperature resulted in a high yield of reducing sugar, with over 55% being recovered.
