Toxic emissions from power plant threaten regional air quality
The study aimed to improve regional air quality management using a model to understand pollution behaviors. Researchers assessed past and future pollution levels in Galicia, Spain. They found the removal of emissions from a large power plant increased ozone near it, but had little effect on ozone levels in the broader region. European emission changes between 2001 and 2008 didn't significantly impact rural ozone levels. The study helps us learn how pollution sources affect regional air quality and how emissions changes influence ozone levels.
