Elephants Reclaim Ancestral Lands, Clash with Humans over Dwindling Resources
Human-Elephant Conflict is a big problem in Africa, especially in Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Zambia. Researchers are working with the Zimbabwe Department of National Park and Wild Life Management to track 15 bull elephants near Victoria Falls. They want to understand how elephants move and behave in relation to the weather, habitats, and land use changes. By studying this, they hope to help farmers and planners avoid conflicts with elephants when expanding agriculture or building cities.
