Organic Farming Boosts Cowpea Yields, Profits for Smallholder Farmers
A study was done to see how using biofertilizers and different amounts of vermicompost affects the growth and yield of cowpea plants. They found that using vermicompost (6 t/ha) along with Rhizobium and Azospirillum led to taller plants, more branches, and higher plant weight. These plants also had more pods, grains per pod, and grew faster. The straw yield, gross return, net return, and benefit-cost ratio were all highest with this combination. So, using vermicompost (6 t/ha) with Rhizobium and Azospirillum can help cowpea plants grow better and produce more yield.
