Toxic chemicals found in Brazil's water supply, raising health concerns.
The study looked at new kinds of pollutants in water in Brazil from 2010 to 2019. Researchers reviewed 27 papers about these pollutants in sewage and water. They found these emerging pollutants in Brazilian waters, with levels decreasing from raw sewage to treated sewage, rivers, and drinking water. Sewage treatment plants partly remove these pollutants, but water treatment plants do not do it as well.
