Ancient Marine Transgression Unveiled in Central India's Carbonate Deposits.
A study examined marine rocks in Central India to understand a past sea level rise. The rocks are made of two types of limestone, with different layers showing different environments where they formed. The lower limestone has three types of layers, showing a calm, low-energy environment. The upper limestone has five types of layers, showing a high-energy, shallow sea environment. Some layers contain fossilized sea creatures and evidence of tidal activity. The rocks provide clues about the conditions when they were formed.
