Iraq's Climate Zones Mapped: Impact on Agriculture and Water Management.
The article maps evapotranspiration in Iraq using weather data from 23 stations over 31 years. They used the FAO Penman-Monteith method to estimate monthly evapotranspiration values. The map divides Iraq into three zones based on evapotranspiration levels. Interpolation was used to create a contour map of evapotranspiration for areas without weather stations. Two methods of interpolation were compared, with the second method found to be more reliable for design purposes. The study found that maximum evapotranspiration occurs in July and minimum in January, with air temperature being the most influential factor on evapotranspiration in Iraq.
