Electricity consumption in India is closely linked to economic growth. A study analyzed data from 1991 to 2018 and found that there is a causal relationship between electricity consumption and economic growth, meaning that as electricity consumption increases, economic growth also increases. However, the reverse relationship was not observed. This suggests that electricity plays a crucial role in driving economic development in India.
