Trehalose boosts frozen boar sperm quality without DNA damage
The researchers studied how adding trehalose to frozen boar sperm affects its quality after thawing. They tested different concentrations of trehalose and found that using 120 mM improved sperm movement and velocity compared to no trehalose. The DNA integrity of the sperm was not harmed by trehalose, and the viability of the sperm was not affected by increasing trehalose concentration. Trehalose can be a helpful additive to improve sperm quality during cryopreservation.
