The landscape in the lower reaches of Tarim River, China changed a lot after emergency water transportation. By analyzing eco-hydrological processes and using remote sensing images, researchers found that forest and water areas increased, while lawn and farmland contributed to the growth of forests. The diversity and fragmentation of the landscape increased, showing that the emergency water transportation had a big impact on the environment in the area.
