Satellite data reveals alarming rate of settlement expansion in Kenyan hills.
Land use and land cover changes on Chetambe Hills in Kenya were studied from 2000 to 2015 using satellite images and GIS. Settlements showed the highest variability compared to forests and croplands. The study found significant changes in land cover over the years, with settlements increasing the most. This suggests a need for government intervention to protect the area from further degradation.
