L-carnitine was tested for its protective effects on male rats with diabetes that had reproductive problems. Rats were split into three groups and given different treatments. Rats given L-carnitine showed improved erectile and reproductive function compared to rats not given it. Their blood pressure during arousal and sperm quality were better. Levels of antioxidants and hormones related to reproductive health were also improved with L-carnitine treatment. This shows that L-carnitine could be a promising treatment for diabetes-related damage to the reproductive system in rats.
