The erosion rate of the intertidal flats in the Eastern Scheldt has decreased by 30% from 2010 to 2019 compared to the period from 1987 to 2010. This means that higher areas are eroding faster than lower areas on the intertidal flats. As a result, the definition of subareas on the intertidal flats has also changed.
