The study aimed to find the best way to grow rice in eastern Uttar Pradesh to save water and labor costs. Researchers tested three methods of planting rice and different levels of nitrogen fertilizer. They found that the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method with 160 kg of nitrogen per hectare produced the highest yield and profit. SRI also resulted in taller plants, more tillers, and faster growth compared to traditional transplanting and direct seeding methods. In areas with cheap labor, SRI is the best way to grow rice for higher yields and more money.
