Trapezoidal Weir with Semi-Circular Gate Boosts Water Flow Efficiency!
The researchers studied how different shapes of weirs affect water flow. They found that a trapezoidal weir with a semi-circular gate had the highest flow efficiency. The trapezoidal weir had a discharge coefficient of 0.49934, the highest among all models tested. Mathematical equations were created to predict flow rates for this efficient model. The trapezoidal weir's discharge coefficient was 3.81% higher than a rectangular weir's. The predicted and observed discharge coefficients matched closely, with only a 0.4% difference.
