Malaysia turns waste into energy, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
Energy recovery from waste in Malaysia is important for saving energy and helping the environment. The country produces a lot of municipal solid waste, mainly food, paper, and plastic. Incinerating this waste is difficult because it has a high moisture content. By using a process called resource recovery, combustible materials can be turned into refuse derived fuel (RDF) with a good energy value. This RDF has a moisture content of 20-30% and a calorific value of 3450 kcal/kg. This method helps to reduce waste and produce energy from it, which is beneficial for Malaysia as a developing country.
