Groundwater contribution to streams overestimated, impacting water resource management.
The researchers aimed to estimate the groundwater contribution to streams in the Sor and Gebba watershed in Ethiopia. They used various hydrograph analysis techniques to analyze daily streamflow data. The results showed that automated filtering techniques overestimated baseflow compared to manual methods. The underground storage aquifer contribution to streamflow was found to be below average using manual analysis techniques. The Baseflow Index values were consistent for both streams, estimating about 33% for the entire watershed.
