The article analyzes the performance of 22 cement companies in India from 2012 to 2017 using a productivity index. It shows that the overall productivity of the cement sector decreased during this period. Larger companies experienced a slightly higher decline in productivity compared to smaller ones. The study also reveals that, except for managerial or local efficiency, all other aspects of productivity showed a downward trend.
