The article discusses how Indonesia recognizes and respects traditional community rights to land, as long as they align with national laws and development goals. The study looks at current land registration policies and the legal aspects of registering traditional ulayat land. The government aims to certify 126 million land parcels by 2025 under the current policy. However, ulayat land is not currently eligible for certification, despite constitutional mandates. The government could issue Customary Land Certificates through Regional Regulations to address this issue.
