Human rights are based on the idea of natural rights, which are rights that all humans have simply by being human. Even though human rights and natural rights are not exactly the same, they are closely related. The concept of natural rights has influenced the development of human rights, with roots in ancient theories like Islamic law. This connection helps to explain and justify many of the rights outlined in international human rights documents. In essence, human rights have grown from the foundation of natural rights and are still connected to their origins.
