Prosocial project descriptions impact funding success in crowdfunding platforms.
The article explores how different types of project descriptions in crowdfunding can attract funders with varying levels of prosocial motivation. Through two experiments, it was found that funders with low prosocial motivation are more likely to contribute higher amounts to projects with high prosocial descriptions on donation-based platforms, or to projects with low prosocial descriptions on reward-based platforms. This suggests that the type of project description and platform can influence funding success for different types of funders.
