Water treatment plants in Alexandria city studied different filter media to increase water production without compromising quality. They found that using a dual sand/anthracite filter achieved the best results, meeting performance criteria at higher filtration rates compared to mono-sand or mono-anthracite filters. By modifying existing filters to dual media and increasing filtration rates, water quantity can be increased without affecting quality, providing a more efficient water treatment process.
