Labyrinth weirs increase water flow capacity by almost 3 times!
The study looked at how trapezoidal labyrinth weirs affect water flow in channels. By testing different weir lengths and heights in a flume, the researchers found that increasing the weir height decreased the flow rate. They also discovered that longer weirs with less steep angles reduced the flow rate. Compared to linear weirs, labyrinth weirs allowed for a higher flow rate with the same water depth. Overall, trapezoidal labyrinth weirs have a higher conveyance capacity than linear weirs.
