Revolutionizing Soil Management in Ghana: Boosting Crop Yields Dramatically!
The study aimed to improve soil fertility in non-responsive soils in Northern Ghana by identifying limiting nutrients and testing their effects on soybean production. Nutrient omission trials in a greenhouse showed that P and K were the main limiting nutrients in the soils. Field experiments with specific nutrient applications and organic compost significantly increased soybean yields in all locations. The results suggest that using tailored fertilizers and organic amendments can boost crop productivity in soils that do not respond well to standard inputs.
