Crop Yields Plummet as Climate Change Ravages Western Haryana
Climate change is affecting crop productivity in Western Haryana. Researchers studied temperature and rainfall data from 2006 to 2016 in Sirsa, Hisar, and Rewari districts. They found that rising maximum temperature positively impacts paddy yield but negatively affects pearl millet. Minimum temperature has a positive effect on paddy and pearl millet productivity. Rainfall positively impacts pearl millet but negatively affects paddy and cotton. Maximum temperature negatively impacts wheat yield, while minimum temperature has a non-significant effect. Rainfall positively impacts wheat and mustard productivity in the region.
