Government subsidies boost foreign innovation, but domestic R&D sees performance gains.
The study looked at how government subsidies affect foreign-funded research and development (R&D) in global supply chains. They used time lag models and matching methods to analyze the impact of these subsidies. The results showed that subsidies improve innovation output for foreign-funded R&D, while they boost innovation performance for domestic R&D. This means that government subsidies play a key role in shaping innovation outcomes for different types of R&D institutions.
