Potato Farmers Thrive with Low-Cost Drip Irrigation, Boosting Yields and Water Efficiency
A study tested a low-cost drip irrigation system for growing potatoes in a place where there isn't much water. They tried out drip and furrow methods on small plots and found that drip irrigation gave the highest potato yield compared to furrow irrigation. The drip system used less water and made more profits. Training sessions were held for over 170 people over three years. The research showed that drip irrigation is a better choice in areas with little water, like near shallow wells or in hilly places, as it can help grow more potatoes efficiently.
