Organic farming boosts vegetable yields, improves nutrition for millions.
Leafy vegetables like coriander, fenugreek, and spinach were grown in a field experiment using different types of organic and integrated nutrient management. The best results were seen when 50% of the nitrogen was provided through farmyard manure (FYM) and the other 50% through urea. This method resulted in the highest growth and green biomass yield for all three vegetables. Another effective approach was using 50% nitrogen from FYM and 50% from vermicompost with biofertilizers. This study shows that using a combination of organic and inorganic nutrients can significantly improve the growth and yield of leafy vegetables.
