Sugarcane farmers in Ghazipur district face diminishing returns, financial challenges.
The study looked at how efficiently sugarcane is grown in Ghazipur district. They interviewed 100 farmers from five villages and found that the average farm size was 1.18 hectares. The cost of growing sugarcane was around Rs. 95124.68 per hectare. The farmers made Rs. 146587 in total income, but after costs, they only kept Rs. 63156.54 per hectare. This means they didn't make much profit. The study also found that as farmers grew more sugarcane, they didn't make as much money per hectare.
