The article compares how developed and developing countries handle pollution. Developed countries have stricter environmental rules, while developing countries have fewer. Trade and foreign investment from developed countries can lead to more pollution in developing countries. Developed countries benefit from this by reducing their own emissions. The study found that the pollution haven idea applies to developing countries, while the pollution halo idea applies to developed countries. Developed countries follow the Environmental Kuznets Curve, but developing countries do not. To reduce pollution, it is suggested to attract investments while also implementing strong environmental policies.
