Oman's Economic Growth Fuels CO2 Emissions, Urgent Need for Environmental Policies
The article explores how economic growth, energy use, and CO2 emissions are connected in Oman from 1980 to 2018. By using different tests, the researchers found a long-term relationship between CO2 emissions, economic growth, and energy consumption. This means that CO2 levels in Oman are influenced by both economic growth and energy use. In the short term, about 15.1% of the imbalance in CO2 emissions is corrected each year. The analysis also showed that energy use and GDP per capita cause CO2 emissions. These findings suggest that policymakers should create strict environmental and energy policies to reduce CO2 emissions.
