Transformative school leaders boost teacher commitment and environmental citizenship in Cairo
The study looked at how principals in private schools in New Cairo influence teachers' commitment to their school and environmental awareness. They used a questionnaire to gather data from 346 teachers. Results showed that teachers see transformational leadership as moderately valuable, with inspirational stimulus being the most effective aspect. Organizational commitment and environmental citizenship were also found to be at moderate levels, with emotional commitment and environmental responsibility being the strongest factors. There is a positive relationship between transformational leadership and both organizational commitment and environmental citizenship. Around 36.8% of changes in organizational commitment and 26.9% of changes in environmental citizenship can be attributed to transformational leadership. The study suggests that schools should consider transformational leadership qualities when selecting leaders and provide support to reduce teachers' workload.
