New sperm selection technique reduces miscarriage rates and improves fertility outcomes
Avoiding sperm centrifugation during sperm selection using a modified "swim up" technique called IO-lix improves sperm quality and reduces miscarriage rates in assisted reproduction. This technique recovers more sperm concentration, increases sperm motility, and decreases sperm DNA fragmentation compared to traditional methods. A study comparing cycles using IO-lix versus standard swim up technique showed significant improvements in sperm parameters and lower miscarriage rates in the IO-lix group.
