Intercropping sorghum and soybean boosts yield and profits in Egypt.
Intercropping sorghum with soybean in specific patterns and plant distributions can affect the growth and yield of sorghum plants. Planting sorghum and soybean together in a 1:1 ratio on the same row resulted in the highest grain yield per plant. Planting sorghum alone with two plants per hill at 15 cm spacing followed by a 4:2 row intercropping gave the highest grain yield per plot and per acre. The most profitable system was intercropping sorghum and soybean in 3:3 or 4:2 row patterns with specific plant distributions.
