Climate change to drastically increase Yellow River runoff, impacting water resources.
Climate change impacts on runoff in the Yellow River source area were studied using a new model. The model predicted future runoff levels under different scenarios. Results showed that only the highest emissions scenario led to a significant increase in runoff. Most extreme runoff values are expected between 2060-2080, requiring further study. It is important to assess if current infrastructure can handle the increased runoff in the future.
