Habbaniya Lake Pollution Levels Improve, Supports Aquatic Life
The researchers studied water pollution in Habbaniya Lake, Iraq, using organic indicators and an overall pollution index. They measured oxygen levels and pollution indicators in the lake water and found that the lake is currently not polluted and supports aquatic life. The overall pollution index showed that the lake's water quality has improved since 2014. The distribution of pollution levels in the lake varied, with lower values in the northwestern part due to continuous water renewal. Overall, the study concluded that using the overall pollution index with organic indicators is effective for assessing water pollution in Habbaniya Lake.
