Local Islamic banks in Malaysia outperform foreign counterparts in efficiency.
Islamic banks in Malaysia were studied from 2008 to 2016 to see how efficient they were. The study compared local Islamic banks to foreign ones. Data Envelopment Analysis was used to measure efficiency. The research found that Islamic banks in Malaysia are efficient overall, with local banks being more efficient than foreign ones. This research provides important information for policymakers about the performance and efficiency of Islamic banks in Malaysia.
