The study looked at how different ways of planting tomatoes, using plastic mulch, and training the plants affected soil temperature, moisture, and tomato yield. They found that using black mulch raised the soil temperature the most, followed by silver/black mulch, compared to no mulch. Soil moisture was higher with silver/black mulch than black mulch. The best yield was seen with raised bed planting, black mulch, and two stem training.
