Declining trend in gram production threatens livelihoods in Central Uttar Pradesh.
The article examines the trend and growth performance of gram (a type of crop) in the central region of Uttar Pradesh, India, from 1997 to 2016. The researchers found that the area, production, and productivity of gram in this region have been decreasing over time. The area dedicated to growing gram decreased by about 1.9% annually, while production and productivity also declined at rates of around 2.9% and 0.4% per year, respectively. These findings suggest a negative trend in gram cultivation in central Uttar Pradesh during the studied period.
