Industrial agglomeration in China's food industry improves product quality by boosting productivity and efficiency. The study focused on dairy enterprises and found that clustering of food businesses enhances quality more than intense competition. Non-state-owned and eastern region food enterprises benefit most from agglomeration. This external force, guided by macro policies, helps the food industry move towards high quality and high-end products.
