Over 15% of UK COVID-19 patients got infected in hospitals
Hospital-acquired COVID-19 infections were studied in UK hospitals during the first wave of the pandemic. Researchers found that around 11.3% of COVID-19 patients in UK hospitals got infected after being admitted. This number increased to at least 15.8% by mid-May 2020. The study used patient records and estimated infection dates to identify hospital-acquired infections. Preventing these infections is crucial for managing COVID-19 in hospitals.
