New Wheat Cultivars Boost Grain Yield and Stability in Assiut Conditions
The study aimed to find the best wheat cultivars for high grain yield across different planting dates. Fourteen wheat cultivars were tested over six planting dates in two seasons. The cultivar Gemiza 11 had the highest grain yield, 1000-grain weight, and straw yield. It also headed the earliest. Gemiza 11, Gemiza 9, and Sakha 94 were the top high-yielding and stable cultivars across all planting dates. For early planting (1st -15th November), Misr 2, Sids 12, Sakha 95, Gemiza 9, and Gemiza 11 are recommended. For late planting after 30th November, Sakha 94, Gemiza 9, and Gemiza 11 are good choices as they still produce good yields and are tolerant to late planting.
