Reduced settlement time cuts coagulant use, improves water treatment efficiency.
The study aimed to reduce the amount of Aluminum sulfite (Alum) used in Iraqi water treatment plants while maintaining water quality. By increasing the time of slow mixing and final settlement, the researchers found that the turbidity removal percentage increased, allowing for a reduction in Alum dosage while still achieving the same level of turbidity removal. This approach not only improves water treatment efficiency but also reduces potential health risks associated with Alum exposure.
