Evapotranspiration is crucial for understanding water and energy cycles on Earth. Scientists in Iran compared MODIS satellite data with traditional methods to estimate evapotranspiration. They found that MODIS tends to overestimate evapotranspiration in all climate types, but performs well in arid and semi-arid regions. The MODIS data also accurately captures seasonal evapotranspiration cycles, although the peaks occur slightly earlier than observed. Overall, MODIS is a valuable tool for studying evapotranspiration in different climates.
