Freezing Sperm Reduces Motility, Threatening Fertility Treatments
The researchers wanted to see how well sperm survives and moves after being frozen and then thawed for infertility treatment. They studied 31 men undergoing semen analysis, with 21 having their semen frozen and thawed. After thawing, the sperm's survival rate dropped from 61.82% before freezing to 37.66%. Also, the sperm's movement ability decreased by 24.16% after the freezing process. This research shows that semen freezing can lower the survival and movement of sperm, which suggests a need for better freezing and thawing methods.
