New herbicide boosts pigeon pea yield and soil nitrogen levels significantly.
Different herbicides were tested on pigeon pea plants to see how they affected growth, yield, and nitrogen levels in the soil. Pendimethalin at 1000 g/ha led to taller plants, more branches, and higher seed and stalk yields compared to other herbicides. Pendimethalin at 2000 g/ha resulted in the highest available nitrogen levels in the soil, followed by the control group, Imazethapyr at 150 g/ha, Imazethapyr at 75 g/ha, and oxyfluorfen at 250 g/ha.
